Wes Sr.'s Fight Against Cancer

Dear Family and Friends,

A few months ago, our dad, Wes Sr., went to the hospital for an unrelated issue concerning his pancreas. Doctors happened to find a growth by chance on his kidney, which turned out to be renal cancer-- Stage 4 renal cancer, to be precise. We initially believed the tumor to be slow-growing. However, in recent weeks, the tumor metastasized.

Doctors determined that the pain our dad was experiencing in his neck was from a tumor that lodged itself behind his neck, fracturing his vertebrae. Although surgery to repair the fracture was successful, surgery to remove his kidney and consequent chemotherapy are still pending.

Our dad is in a dire state right now. At this point, every subsequent surgery must be successful for him to have the best chance for survival and recovery. That said, he needs to do everything he can to put himself in the best position to be healthy for the surgeries. That begins with having a bed that meets his new physical needs, and funds to continue to put food on the table for his wife, Mireille, who is also recovering from cancer, and our younger sister, Amelie.

We researched some of the best adjustable beds for our father and the prices are all $3000 and up. Surgery is in about a month. How long he will be off of his feet is uncertain. During that period, he and his family will be moving to a new home in Southwest Baltimore. 

 
It's imperative that he gets in a proper bed and rests as long as possible in preparation for surgery, and thereafter, for as long as he needs to recover. We want him to focus on recovering, not with logistics surrounding his move, paying bills, or feeding his family.

Our initial goal is to raise $15,000 towards these expenses. Any support you can give towards this endeavor would be so greatly appreciated.
