This project started as a collaboration between Werfen and Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo because of the similar purpose that these organizations serve in the community, to provide better patient outcomes.
The association Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo is a lay, independent, non-profit organisation that, thanks to the voluntary collaboration of more than 150 surgeons, doctors, nurses and technicians from the most prominent Italian and foreign cardio-surgical centres, operates in countries in difficulty in order to give the hope of life to children with heart disease.
The Association was born in 1993 in Milan through the efforts of Professor Alessandro Frigiola and Professor Silvia Cirri. Every month the Association organises hope missions in different countries, training doctors and building cardio-surgical paediatric centres in the most deprived areas, in order to develop the local health system and combat the infant mortality rate.
The Association is Charitable Organization (DM 28/01/2000) and ONLUS since 2003.
Werfen is a growing, privately held corporation that was founded in 1966 in Barcelona, Spain.
