RENLY's Treat Fund

Hi, we're Shana and A.J. Rush. Shana is a pediatric neuropsychologist (specialist in children with cognitive and neurobehavioral disabilities). A.J. is a physiatrist (physician for people with disabilities). We work together at Rush Pediatric Neuropsychology and Grand River Rehabilitation in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

PAWS With A Cause has approved us for a Facility Dog. We don't know the dog's name yet, or even if it's a Lab or a Goldie, but somewhere out there, a puppy just finished its first year of training. As soon as they finish they'll come work with us!

Our patients can be vulnerable, scared, struggle to communicate or understand, or simply stressed. Many of them have had far too much exposure to the healthcare system.

Our dog will motivate and reassure our patients. We hope our patients will look forward to their appointments and seeing their furry friend.

It takes a lot to raise and train a facility dog. Thousands of hours of volunteers' time... and $6,000 up-front and $2,500 each year after that. Caring for patients with disabilities is our passion. We'd really appreciate any help you can give!
