Medical Expenses for Wendy Melamed

As you know Wendy had major back surgery on 8/4 then suffered a stroke the next night on 8/5. She spent 5 weeks Baylor Medical Center Hospital since being transferred there on 8/6. She was kept sedated for about 7 days and on a respirator for 11 days. She was moved to the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation on 9/11.
I’ve never wanted to be in a position that I had to ask someone for financial help. I have always said I wouldn't do one of these donation pages that I've seen many other people do but now find myself in a position where I cannot afford the care Wendy needs on my own so, as embarrassed as I am for asking, I'm reaching out to friends and family for small donations.
These donations will be used to cover expenses not covered by insurance. There are some expenses that I thought went towards Wendy’s $5,000 deductible but didn’t. The doctors are saying Wendy will need several weeks’ inpatient rehab then about 9-10 months of outpatient rehab. Wendy’s insurance will only cover 60 days max of inpatient rehab. She has used up a majority of her allowed outpatient rehab for 2015 trying various types of therapy hoping to delay the need for surgery but nothing helped her. The rehabilitation center said they will need to come to our house and require certain things modified before Wendy can come home. These things can include ramps, rails around the house and in the bathroom, widening doorways if she is confined to a wheelchair, and other recommendations that they will make.
On top of all the medical expenses we have lost Wendy’s income. Wendy planned on just taking 2-3 months (I can’t remember which) off of work to recover from her back surgery but now will be unable to return to work. We had only prepared for her to take up to 3 months off so this is a huge impact on top of all the extra medical expenses we have now due to her stroke.
Unfortunately we have been put into a position where we need to ask for some donations. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
