Wendy Support Fund - Fighting Lyme

Our dear friend, Wendy, needs our help! We've seen her get slammed over and over to get back up and fight through the pain another day. It's been hard to watch and you probably wanted to do something meaningful to help. Well, now is your chance.

She has been battling Chronic Lyme Disease (and winning!) for many years now. Wendy hasn't been able to work in almost a decade. Social Security Disability (which she had to fight hard to get) is her only source of income, and it doesn't even cover her rent in Palo Alto. (Wendy had to stay in Palo Alto to be near her child's school, and now moving isn't really an option.) Needless to say, Wendy is in debt just trying to make it through to the other side, and she's almost there!
Here is her story in her own words.

"At my sickest in 2010, when I first started this long journey, I weighed 92 pounds and was a skeleton. I was blind in one eye and had lost the ability to sign my name. My doctors had no idea what was wrong and couldn’t stop me sliding into a very bad place. I finally found a doctor who knew what it was and he sent my blood out to be tested ... it came back with 6 severe infections. I was dying. Once he saw confirmation of how sick I was, he said 'Wendy, I can’t put a port in your heart and give you antibiotics because I will kill you.'
So, he sent me to another doctor and I started searching for a way to save my life. My new doctor stopped me from sliding even further into the pit of hell. And, thank God, I found a way to save my life. It was an experimental IV treatment that was miraculous. I am patient #2.

The very first IV, I sat there, teeth chattering with freezing hands and feet that were blue from cold. I put out my arm and trusted it was going to be okay... bravest thing I’ve ever done. So with a blood pressure cuff and oxygen monitor on, the solution started going into my veins and I watched in amazement as my hands and feet turned pink and warm, and my heart rate normalized for the first time in months. I knew then I could save my life.

It’s now 2017 and I’ve done over 50 IV treatments and killed off 5 of the 6 horrific bacterial infections ("no detectable bacteria"). This last one, Mycoplasma, is the worst infection. It’s been a full blown war trying to get it out of my body. The amount of pain I deal with every single day is tremendous -- way beyond kidney stone level pain because the Mycoplasma is everywhere. I can barely see right now. It's in my brain, heart, body and spine. I'm passed out most of the time from the pain and treatments. I’m getting my ass beat as I claw my way through this nightmare, but I’m so grateful to be alive and on this incredible IV treatment. It saved my life. I’ve seen miracles with this ... look at my hair- see any gray? There isn’t any! I watched it go from gray to brown! And I also saw my wrinkles going away! When I had been on IV for about a year, all this was happening and my kid said, 'You’ve got to stop this! You’re going backwards! my friends think you are my sister!' I just smiled. In addition to healing me and repairing all the damage and pain these bacterial infections have caused, it’s a wonderful perk :) I wouldn't be here without this amazing treatment.

Wendy will use the funds for her living and medical expenses (which are huge), to pay down her debt, and to support her daughter, Kayla.

She has a driver who takes her to her appointments and brings her groceries. Another way to help would be Whole Foods gift cards she could give her driver to use for her groceries.
She is selling off her valuables and potentially liquidating her IRA. She is fighting for her life and doing everything she can to help herself. Please consider helping her out this holiday season.
