Our journey began on November 29th, 2017, when doctors informed my mom that she likely had Ovarian Cancer. On December 12th, 2017, she had to undergo exploratory abdominal surgery. During the surgery, they discovered that she did NOT have Ovarian Cancer. Instead, she was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei... also known as Appendix Cancer, causing her to be absent from work for 7-8 weeks. The treatment for this type of cancer is yet another abdominal surgery, called HIPEC - "Mother of All Surgeries".  It is a heated chemo-therapy treatment. The surgery is said to last 8-10 hours with the hospital stay planned for 10-12 days. This surgery, she will be out of work for approximately 3 months. It is to be scheduled within 6 weeks and will exhaust any remaining leave-time from her job. This has been a very trying time for her and our entire family. My mom is the strongest person I know, but unfortunately, she will not be able to make it (financially) through this without the help and support of others.
