Wendy Liechty's Medical Fund

My cousin was diagnosed with Gioblastoma - the deadliest form of brain cancer 4.5 years ago. After being in a car accident in NYC, she was taken to the ER to get an MRI on her brain. This is when the doctor informed her about a possible tumor found that they had assumed would be benign, but needed to be removed. The doctor told her she would not be able to schedule her surgery for a couple of weeks due to the demand and importance of surgeries before her. Wendy then went to the front desk and the receptionist to her surprise found a canceled appointment and said she could actually go sooner than expected. When Wendy arrived at her apointment the surgeon was upset because there was a mistake with the scheduling and her surgery was not as important as others patients who were scheduled weeks in advance.  The surgeon, however, went on to perform surgery on Wendy despite the confusion and misunderstanding. After the surgery, the Doctor came in to give apologies to Wendy, and told her she was in shock because her cancer is one of the deadliest and she needed to start chemo asap. Wendy was given a second chance at life that day. Among her trials, and desire to live a good life, this has been her greatest blessing. We are all grateful for the life she has lived, and for the person that she has become...and above all, the example she is to each of us. We have an incredibly strong family unit and we have supported her the past few years in any way we can....despite the distance of her living in a small apartment in NYC. As her cousin, I felt a need to travel with my Mom (who has now visited her on many occasions a week at a time) to see Wendy and help her. My Aunts and other cousins have also made sacrifices to visit, and Wendy is so appreciative. While we are there we walk the dog 3xs a day, make dinners, visit with Wendy, cook meals, clean the apartment, take the laundry down the street, grocery shopping, pick up & drop off her 9 year old daughter Shaya to school, starts dinner, help with homework and head to bed.  It is a lot of work to say the least. Among all of that, Wendy has been dealing with the stress of everyting, and often is too tired to get out of bed. So I decided to visit her with my Mom. I paid my way and chose to take a week off of work. I am so glad I had that opportunity. I really got to know Wendy and hear all she has been through. I HAD NO IDEA the heartache, the challenges, the problems, and so much that happens with different medications and surgeries. I wish I could tell you all of them, but to tell you the most important part and why I started this campaign, is to help relieve the stress of finances and bills that I am sure have not helped Wendy with her stress levels. And the worst news of all....we were hoping the cancer would stay away after her last surgery ...her 4th one....yet after only 2 months, it is back. And it is also in 2 different places and is aggressive. The Doctors will not be able to fully remove it because one of the tumors is in the back of her neck. This is so frightening and scary and I wish I could take her pain away. Wendy is the most caring, loving, kind, compassionate, and giving person I know. She has been through so much. And I know this would make her feel so much relief because their medical bills are incredibly extensive. Thank you immensely for any amount you can offer. I am so grateful and know Wendy would thank you a million and a half times if she could. Also, so you know, Wendy has been strong, positive, and resilient through her treatments and hospital stays. She has strong faith and prays more than anyone I know.
She is a LIVING ANGEL
We love you Wendy!!
