How We Got Here:

We have long felt called to bring an orphan into our home. We started on our adoption journey in early 2012, when we decided to pursue a domestic adoption through the foster care system.

Shortly after submitting our initial paperwork, we found out we were pregnant. We continued with our classes through the pregnancy, but did not complete our home study until Austin was about 8 months old.

In a recent home visit with our case worker, it was made clear to us that with the route we had chosen, the criteria we had in place would keep us waiting for a placement for a long, long, long, time. We were encouraged to seek out other options through private and international adoption. It didn’t take long for us to decide that - since we weren’t just trying to grow our family, but to give a family to an orphan - international adoption was the way we should go.

So, here we are. It kind of feels like we’re starting from square one again, but we will do what we have to do! We have narrowed down our list of potential agencies and also countries to adopt from, and have decided to adopt from China.

How You can Help:

A long, exciting road lies ahead of us, and we could use your support! We know this process can be long and difficult, so please be thinking of us, praying for us, and encouraging us as we continue forward on this journey. You can follow our family’s progress at our family blog: wemartins.wordpress.com.

Unlike a domestic, public adoption, an international adoption takes quite a bit of money to complete. There are background checks, home study fees, travel costs, translation services, medical exams, legal fees, administrative fees, as well as a slew of other costs associated with the process.

If you’d like to help us bring another "piece" of our family home, you can! We are going to have a 1,000 piece puzzle made to frame in our future child’s bedroom. We’d be honored if you’d “purchase” a piece (or pieces!) of the puzzle, for $15 each. When you do that, we’ll lovingly write your name on the back of the piece! This will allow us to always remember all of the love that was poured into our family during this time, and all of people who, PIECE by PIECE, helped to bring us together.

Thank you so much for your love and support.
