Hello Humans of Planet Earth,
As many of you know, our dear friend, and stalwart supporter of those impacted by, and living with HIV, Tony Torres, has recently suffered some setbacks in his life; most recently, a bout of Pneumonia, which landed him in the hospital for the last two weeks.
Fortunately, he is on the mend, and is being released today. However, the road to recover for him will be long, and difficult, as his immune system has been severely compromised. The doctors have predicted at least two months of recovery time for him. To add to the situation, he also, through no fault of his own, lost his job. While I hesitated to share the personal details of his story with you, I decided that the need was great enough, and I know how much so many of you care for him, and would want to help. Besides, Tony has shared his personal story on social media, in-print, and out loud for the world to hear.. this is nothing.
As such, I’ve set up this GoFundMe page so that we can come together to show Tony some love, and help him through this difficult time. Donate what you can. Every little bit helps.
A concerned friend, a partner in the fight against HIV, and someone who has been living with HIV for 13 years
PS - Thank you to everyone that signed up for the mealtrain that was set up for Tony by some concerned folks at a local HIV service organization last week, prior to this GoFundMe page being set up. I know that when you heard about the meal train that was the first time you were hearing about Tony's situation, so thank you for filling the need so quickly.
