We Love Blue!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Melissa and my Big Sister, Melody, and her family are in need of help. Here's the story on what happened.

On Wednesday, December 27th, in Averill Park, New York, a family put their dog outside to run just like any other day. This dog is very loyal and always came back in as instructed by their humans. However on this night, he was being very stubborn and wouldn't come in. The kids were almost home and the parents were leaving for a proir engagement. This dog never left the land the house was on so no thought of him straying crossed their minds in such a short time frame without supervision. Unfortunately, this time was different. He followed the vehicle the parents drove as they were heading out for their desitination. They had no idea as it was getting dark and they did not see him. We are not sure on the sequence of events that followed after that leading up to the accident, but it was explained that someone was trying to get him out of the road but he was so terrified of this stranger that he wouldn't move. It was then that this sweet fur baby was struck by a car and he was badly injured. Thank goodness he was still alive. A kind hearted soul found him and posted a picture of him to find the owners. He was taken to the Emergency Clinic for help. Her post on Facebook was shared over 400 times and I cannot even imagine the thoughts at the moment my sister received the calls and texts regarding this possibly being her dog, Blue. She and her husband, Mark, rushed to the Clinic to confirm and sure enough, it was him. This sweet boy was very scared, in a lot of pain and confused. Our animal's brains are not programmed to understand what is occuring when things like this happen to them. They solely rely on their humans to love them and care for them unconditionally. My sister and her family are the most loving and giving people that you could ever meet. For those that know them, they have never asked for help like this because of that reason. They have always found a way themselves with the undying motivation and drive that we all dream to have, but this time, they are in a bind. Not to mention the emotional distress and fear of possibly losing their fur baby that was going through their minds. Blue has been with them since he was a baby. He is the sweetest big ol goofball you could ever meet! JUST to keep Blue ALIVE it cost them $3000. This was to observe him and do all of the necessary tests to determine his stability and if he could recover from this. The possibility of him going into shock and not making it through was 50/50. They were at the hospital with him until 1AM that night praying he would be okay and gain the strength to recover. The following day they received information that he was improving. However, his leg was broken in 3 places and the cost to fix it was astronomical. The only other option is the one thing that we can't even imagine having to go through. Blue's leg would need to be amputated or he ran a huge risk of infection and further complications down the line. The cost for the amputation was an additional $3,881. The Clinic advised them that this needed to be paid in full before any further care could be administered. It is very upsetting that a price like this is being placed on a life. Animals cannot do these things for themselves. They had to continue to monitor him to determine how soon he would be able to receive this surgery based on his condition. Thankfully, he was strong enough to receive this surgery within 2 days of the incident and is currently recovering well! We are hoping he will be able to come home today but if he is not able to, the cost to continue to care for him is only going to increase. Blue is being so strong and my sister tells me that all he wants to do is get up and come home. Even when he was still recovering prior to the surgery he tried to move to come home with them as they were getting ready to leave for the night. As he continues to progress we will continue to update everyone on Blue's status.

We are reaching out to all of you to help these wonderful people out in this hard time. We always try to prepare for the worst but we never know how it is going to go and it seems to always happen at the most inconvenient times. Any and all donatons will certainly help. Share this post. Spread the word. We are calling all loving hearts to serve! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you do not wish to donate through here. We are praying harder than ever that Blue can come home and be where his heart is. If you have any questions or wish to assist in another way please reach out to me or my sister, Melody, directly. Thank you all in advance for anything you can do for them. It is appreciated more than you know. <3
