Our brother, friend, colleague, mentor, community champion, Josh Schuyler, has been dealing with health issues related to few stomach surgeries, which have caused him multiple hospital stays. With these hospital stays come expenses such as co-pays, treatment and ongoing care. In addition, Josh and his fiancée Val are parents to beautiful baby girl Cora and expecting another baby girl later this year. Neither Josh nor Val are able to work full time now and into the near future.
It is a traditional value for friends, family and community to come together to support one another in times of crisis and need. Josh has been there for each of us and the communities he has served. A GoFundMe effort is just another way to practice that traditional value that shows our support and love for a colleague and brother. This GoFundMe is set up to raise resources in order to offset expenses and encourage Josh and Val to focus on his most important job right now, which is supporting each other to heal, stay healthy, and rest.
Josh has continuously gone above and beyond in supporting his family, communities, co-workers and friends. All of us who know Josh can attest to his love, passion, and dedication for his work in Indian country.
Josh’s parents passed away when he was in his early 20's. Josh took the role on supporting his two younger sisters and being a rock for his family. Josh continues to be a steady and positive influence on all his family and friends as well as all the communities he supports through his wellness work. Josh has been that steady and supportive influence for all his co-workers as well. It is now time we step up and provide support for Josh and his growing family.
In addition to being an awesome big brother Josh has dedicated his career in supporting wellness for families and communities from being an intern, volunteer, case manager, to leading a national community planning effort with Indigenous communities across the country. Josh's presence, wisdom, and skill is greatly missed by all the communities he has supported. Indian Country needs a healthy Josh!
