Wellness Journeys

I'm the new CEO of a nonprofit that has been around for over 25 years, but just recently got a Charity Status .

We are Minnesota Wellness Publications, and our web presence started out as the Wellness Directory of Minnesota in 1994. We were the first website devoted to health, wellness, and nutrition (naturopathy), with a humble beginning on Hometown AOL.

Since then, we've grown. Our website is over 2 million words and our journalism is reliable, readable, and educational.

Here are the top three articles at our new site that you will find (stolen, borrowed, plagiarized) at other sites and even in a documentary or two:

Cancer Loves Sugar

Health Care For Dummies

Chronic Inflammation - An American Epidemic

(We stress "new site" because we are still working on it and many links have yet to be hooked up and tested. We know these articles are up, but some of the links in them might not be active yet.)

We have no paid employees. We are all volunteers and we are considered disabled. The person who began this company is a disabled Vietnam veteran. He is our chief journalist and editor and he's known far and wide as simply David (because he feels the work is more important than ego boosting notoriety).

At the age of 19 he was decorated 5 times for valor, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and his name is etched into the Wall of Honor at the National Air and Space Museum. And over a dozen experts, PhDs, have called his article on PTSD the best article on the internet on this subject.

In our 23 years, we've had some pretty amazing accomplishments.

We informed the public of problems with Vioxx two years before the FDA admitted that Vioxx was causing cardiovascular disease and heart attacks. We published problems with Viagra a year and a half before the FDA published them. And we've debunked a lot of urban legends and myths, such as "On his deathbed Louis Pasteur said ‘Bernard was correct. I was wrong. The microbe (germ) is nothing. The terrain (milieu) is everything.’”

Additionally, our investigative journalism uncovered a fraudulent website making half a million dollars a month selling a “cancer cure.” We scooped the nation on this one; the entire story was posted to the web in under four days start to finish. A month later, Fox News came along, wanting to interview us. They published a three part story about this guy, and they never gave us credit for the story. And when the culprit threatened to sue them, they said “on the air” that they would gladly take on all law suits resulting from this story. But the culprit sued us instead because we broke the story, and unlike Fox News, we didn’t have any money. We contacted Fox and told them about the law suit, asking for help, and they wished us good luck.

The results were, we won the law suit but went into debt over $60,000.00. The culprit, Arthur Vanmoor was convicted of 19 separate counts and sentenced to 210 months in prison:

We are now moving our site and making it faster, better, and mobile friendly. We want to continue bringing the latest technologies, the latest nutritional information, and educational articles on health and wellness to the public, along with our investigative journalism.

Additionally, we are building a foundation, the Foundation for Alternative Cancer Therapies (FACT), because the American Cancer Society is the fatted golden calf of the charity world (millions of dollars in overhead) that takes money from the biggest polluters without ever calling them out, without ever telling the public that their biggest supporters produce the most cancers on the planet. The research they support is only conventional and it too is another fatted calf, and they spend millions suppressing non-conventional therapies .

There is no charity supporting the efforts of scientists and doctors outside of conventional circles, and yet the History of Medicine shows us that this is where change comes from; this is where cures come from. Everything in medicine was once an alternative, even antibiotics. We want to fund that research and help get people these therapies because their insurance won't cover them.

We want to be bigger than the American Cancer Society someday, actually save lives, and promote real cancer research, rather than continue to throw good money away after bad. We want to do this with only a 10% overhead, which we can do after we've built the infrastructure, because, again, we are all volunteers.

Our new website (just starting to go live) is wellnessjourneys.org .

Our chief editor is an award winning photographer, and the Art Book offered at the Silver Level is currently being moved to a new site and will be posted soon here for perusal.
