Wellness for Weezie

Donation protected
Hello friends and family! One of our nearest and dearest, Louisa Lauher or Weezie as we fondly know her, is going through a very difficult moment in life. I will let her explain some of the particulars in her words below.
From Weezie:
"I have been in treatment for my eating disorder since late September. I began in an intensive outpatient program at three nights a week, and stepped up to a day treatment program (six hours/day every weekday) in mid-November after losing my job. After Thanksgiving, my treatment team recommended that I be admitted into the residential program. I expect to be in residential treatment for 30-60 days, after which point I will be discharged back into the day program.

This is the first time in my life that I’ve pursued treatment for my eating disorder, and it is absolutely the hardest work I have ever had to do. I have quite a bit of history with seeking support for other mental health issues, but this is a different ballgame. I am undoing decades of emotional avoidance and maladaptive coping skills. To be honest, I’m exhausted.

I mentioned earlier that I lost my job this fall. I have been blessed with insurance coverage without having to pay for COBRA, but the coverage has already been insufficient throughout my treatment, and the residential program is significantly more costly. Because of the circumstances of my job loss, I am not eligible for unemployment benefits, and I am not receiving FMLA support. In short, I have swiftly mounting medical bills and no source of income."

Weezie came to me with the idea of possibly creating a GoFundMe and I kind of ran with it. With quickly mounting medical debt and the need to also support her family with her share of the household responsibilities, Weezie is very concerned about not being able to afford treatment. I am of the firm opinion that if we can help our friend and family get well, we should do so in any way possible. Any amount will help decrease the anxiety that can come from the quickly growing medical bills.  Please help in any way you can! We so appreciate it! If you have any questions, please reach out to me, Christina. Weezie leaves for treatment on Wednesday December 6th, so I will be a point of contact for this fund.
