Hi Family and Friends!

Since the beginning of 2018, we have been working to become certified as refugee foster parents to unaccompanied refugee minors.  We were certified at the end of 2018, and in April, we were contacted to ask if we would be willing to have 3 children join our family. We had one day to decide, but we had been praying much about it, and we believe that the Lord had been preparing us to say "yes," so we did!

For the past six months we have been waiting with almost no information about their arrival, but that is just a small fraction of the wait that the children have had. Then, on Monday, October 21st, we were contacted and told the kids would be arriving in the U.S. on October 29th. Just one day prior to their scheduled arrival we were called again and informed that a moratorium had been extended through the end of October, prohibiting any refugees to travel to the U.S. to be resettled. The moratorium has not been extended again, but their travel date was moved to November 14th. It’s our understanding that this second delay was due, in large part, to logistics, and we are hopeful that there won't be any further delays!

We are so grateful for all of the help we have received so far to help prepare for their arrival! As our family quickly grows from 4 to 7, many of you have asked how you can help, and we would greatly appreciate any help you are willing to give.

These are the main material needs that we are aware of for now:

-  Furniture and bedding.  When we were first notified of their arrival we purchased the items needed for each of their rooms.

-  Clothing and school supplies.  It is unlikely that the children will bring much with them at all.  Once they've arrived we'll need to go out with them to purchase these items.

-  Bikes and other fun things.  As we get to know them and the activities they enjoy, we will begin to purchase these items with them.

-  Second vehicle.  Our kids will likely be going in opposite directions for school (Northumberland and Mifflinburg), so as the kids require extra tutoring and become involved in extra-curricular activities, a second vehicle would be really helpful.

Finally, please, even if you don't give in any other way... please pray for all of us!

We love that you want to participate in helping us welcome these kids! ❤️ Thank you!!!!

Love,
Tim, Joya, James, & Abby
