Children of Haiti

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples” ~ Mother Teresa

Hi everyone! For those who do not know me, my name is Navi and I work as a PA in critical care/trauma surgery. As we all know, this year has been remarkable and unprecedented in many ways, and these are the exact two words I would use to describe my personal journey this year.

I had the incredible opportunity to visit Haiti this past month. I was inspired by the culture of Haiti, its people, and the country’s remarkable resilience in spite of significant economic and medical disparities. However, it was truly the children of Haiti that stole my heart.

We stopped at Maison de Enfants de Dieu, a local orphanage to drop off some donation items, and I was enamored by the love and innocence of the children. As we toured more, it became blatantly clear that the need for children in Haiti is overwhelming. The number of children living in abject poverty and dependent upon others for everyday survival is staggering. Just between Maison & Tysea, these 2 orphanages provide shelter to close to 100 children, both relying solely on support from outside sources.

Their most essential need, of course, is food and clean drinking water, but they are also in desperate need of:
- regular medical and dental care for children including immunizations, medications and supplies.
- educational and learning material including books and other necessities.
- basic infrastructure including addition/repair of existing rooms and space, beds and mattresses, inverters/batteries to support electricity etc.

Needless to say, I want to help. The passion I feel is immeasurable, but I am also acutely aware of my limitations as an individual. So, I reach out to you today for your support; a gift that will make a tangible difference in the lives of these children by providing them basic amenities, educational support and medical care. The funds will also be utilized to help transition older children as they age out of the system. Overall, you will be contributing to a safer and a more secure & stable life for these children.

Transparency is critical in order for you to trust my goodwill in this venture. I will be traveling back to Haiti early next year to not only volunteer but also personally supervise the use of the funds. Regular updates regarding the use of funds with receipts will be provided to all contributing.

So I plead with you to open your hearts to these children. Do not consider any donation too small, the mere thought and gesture is invaluable. As Mother Teresa said, “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.”

I sincerely thank you in advance for your consideration, and on behalf of the recipients of your gift! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
