I, along with so many cannot express my/our gratitude enough for Fire fighters and so many others on front line. I have had so many friends and family impacted. My heart is grieving for the losses. The animals, the humans, the property and the habitat that has been lost.
Then when I think about small businesses especially in the tourism sector going under due to everyone leaving these small towns, I feel deeply saddened for communities already under strain. I still call the South Coast "home".
With the help of some friends and family we have already set up a tab to pay for a meal and a beer for the local fire fighters, when they get a small reprieve to take it. This is the least we could do for these amazing people. The tab is at my brother's family restaurant Santa Fe in Merimbula. I know Zac and Lisa would do it out of their own pocket if they were able, but like so many small businesses, if they don't make the Summer trade period, they won't see out a winter.
If we can add to it, we can extend it out to so many more of the community who could come together for a meal and connect as these communities do so well. Then they could spend their money in another local business that needs it so desperately too.
Some international friends have asked for a platform to add to the tab. Thanks for the nudge.
Deepest gratitude to all my friends and family who have already chipped in!
