University Students Assist Nonprofits

“As a nonprofit founder myself I can deeply relate to the personal struggles of another founder who has put their blood, sweat, tears and even their entire savings account into to creating their “baby” or in formal terms their cause. We work tireless hours to develop a new program or service, and somehow or another we hope for assurance that it will inspire giving hearts of the masses. Sadly, this is not the case and it’s not because the cause is not worthy; rather it’s because the odds are stacked us. New and emerging nonprofits are invisible, not just due to money but also the lack of business strategy support.

Suffice to say, this is a topic I revisit with almost every new (start-up or very young) organization that contacts our company for support. Now we are asking for your support on helping us raise the funds necessary to create a solution which will enable us to save one cause at a time, thus impact the world.”

Charity Market Place LLC.

The Problem:

There are 1.5 million nonprofits in the U.S but only 2.39% of nonprofit organizations raise enough money to properly support their cause. Simply stated, about 1.4 million nonprofits run their businesses on hope. Hope can only take you so far. During our research, nonprofits are reporting that their top three issues are lack of funding, visibility, and access to skilled volunteers. These issues are making it difficult for nonprofits to execute their business plan. The data we collected shows 75% of the nonprofits said they lack funding, 85% lacks the skills to market and advertise their cause, and 95% lacks the access to skilled volunteers to help run their day to day operations.

Our Solution:

Charity Market Place started as an entrepreneur project at Georgia State University. A group of students social entrepreneurs came together with the mission of applying a business solution to the funding and visibility issues being reported by nonprofits. Our solution will offer a virtual office for nonprofits which delivers built-in features such as social media integration, professional volunteer jobs board, grant workshops, Humanitarian Student Exchange Program, donor auction page, starter fundraiser kit, accounting tools and more.

As a part of the solution, we created the Humanitarian Student Exchange Program. The HSE program is a free program for nonprofits which facilitates the connection of junior and senior college students needing internship credit with nonprofits needing business model and operational support. This program is currently in motion and will be an integral part of our web community. Here is the link to the program: thecharitymarketplace.club

How Your Money Will Be Used

Through our development process and personal experiences, we’ve analyzed and estimated the amount of developer hours needed to build this project based on mid-level and senior-level developers.  These estimates have been used to provide our target goal of $8,000 to cover the costs of labor.

We are still working for no pay at this time and putting in all sweat equity until we get this product off the ground.
