We Stand Together Melbourne Food Relief Charity

The effects of the pandemic are only getting tougher as Melbourne went into Stage 4 restrictions. Businesses have closed, many have lost their jobs and are on the verge of losing their livelihood - a situation that we might now have accepted as ‘the new normal’, yet, it doesn’t make it any less painful. 

Among those struggling to get by are international students, who pay up to four times more for tuition fees than domestic students, whilst falling through the cracks of government financial support programs that are only available for locals. 

Some are isolated from their families and support networks, with no incomes, no job opportunities - feeling emotionally distressed and fearful for their future. I am an expat in Australia and have been a student, while I am luckier than many to be able to support myself and have my family here with me, I somehow feel and understand their pain.

This is a global pandemic, and we are all feeling the pain in one way or another. We don’t know how long the crisis would last, so let’s stand together in solidarity to make the current situation a little more manageable.
