We Love You, Mr. Mike!

Mike Kozak, affectionately known by parents and kids alike as “Mr. Mike,” “Kozey,” & “Crossing Guard Mike,” has been a dedicated, loyal, and treasured part of our Twin Cities community since he started work with the Larkspur Corte Madera School District in 1993.
Mike has welcomed thousands of kids to Neil Cummins School with his warm, big-hearted smile and friendly demeanor for 26 years! He loves his work (has rarely missed a day!), cares deeply for our community, and has devoted his life to keeping our kids safe and feeling positive about coming to school.
Last month, just over a year shy of his retirement, the district cut his position, leaving him without employment as of June, and with health benefits that expire at the end of the year. This devastating blow was completely unexpected and has left Mike without his full income until his retirement age.
Last month over 800 people signed a petition to keep Mike and other classified staff in the Larkspur Corte Madera School District. Huge thanks to all who supported this effort and attended board meetings to voice your concerns! Unfortunately, the cuts were still made, leaving Mike without a job as of June.
Let’s step up and show Mike how truly important he is to our Twin Cities community...that 26 years of dedicated service truly MATTER...that we greatly value what he has done for our kids and families, and most importantly, let him know how much WE CARE ABOUT HIM.
This GoFundMe is set up to help Mike cover his health care expenses until he reaches Medicare age, to make up for lost income from losing his job, and to give him the boost and bonus he so deserves.
