We LOVE Wilma!

I’m Courtney Clark. I am a First Christian School Parent. I've started this GoFundMe for Ms. Wilma Hankston in the yellow room. Ms. Wilma has been the lead in the yellow room long before any of us ever attended FCS. She loves the littlest students, and it shows. If your child was lucky enough to be in Wilma’s care, you know how much they loved her and how much she genuinely loved them back. As a new mother, and with each subsequent child, I never worried about first days, drop offs, or whether or not my baby was being cared for the way I was caring for them at home. I was at peace going back to work because I knew Wilma, and I knew my kids were just fine in her hands.
If you’ve had Wilma in the yellow room, you may have noticed that she’s been gone for quite a while. If you’re new, then you never had the wonderful opportunity to have her care for your little one. The thing is, Wilma suffers from congestive heart failure. Last fall, Wilma had a pretty bad episode which sent her from work to the hospital. She hasn’t been back since. Wilma wasn’t ready to retire, and who knows if she would’ve ever gone voluntarily, as she loves her job and our babies that much. But the reality is that Wilma has been out of work for several months and her physician has not yet cleared her for work. To make matters worse, even if she could go back to work, she risks losing some key benefits and access to doctors that she desperately needs. This is THE nightmare. It’s exactly the position we all hope and pray we never find ourselves in. It keeps many of us up at night, but for those of us who are fortunate enough not to worry about this, I hope you’ll join me in collecting funds for Wilma to show her how much we love her and thank her for caring for our children.
Let's all pitch in and see if we can reach our goal (or even surpass it! what a blessing that would be!) from a place of gratitude for our ability to get up each morning and go to work with our health in tact. I know Wilma would much rather be able to do the same, but until she can, let's show her we've got her back.
