We Love Jo-Ann

It is with a heavy heart that we share that our beloved Jo-Ann Machida was diagnosed with Breast Cancer a few months ago. Being the strong woman that she is, she kept this information to a very small circle and kept life moving. She was focused on getting her 2 young sons through college and being the primary financial supporter of her family.
A month into her treatment, the medical team found additional tumors and recommended that she fly to Houston, Texas monthly to receive extensive treatment at the renown Anderson Cancer Center. She never asked for help and made these exhausting trips back and forth, oftentimes taking the flight back home nauseated and weak from the relentless side effects of the treatments.
The medical team is currently researching clinical trials for her to be part of, but cancer is a vicious disease and she is now too weak to make the trips to Houston. On Monday, she was forced to begin her medical leave of absence on the recommendation of her doctor, to take a much needed rest.
Jo-Ann has not only been a hard-working partner at Macy's for many years, she has become a true friend and a sister to us. She lights up everyone's life and has an infectious laugh that really reflects the rainbows of Hawaii. She never asks for anything and has always been a giver. Our sister Jo-Ann needs our help. We are looking to raise money to help Jo-Ann with her medical bills, further treatments and her day-to-day expenses while she is unable to work.
