Hello All,
My name is Mike Lauck and I am starting this GoFundMe campaign for my older brother, Chris Lauck.
Chris received serious chemical burns to his lungs in a home accident involving household chemicals late July 4th, 2018. He spent 7 days in the hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. On July 12th, Chris took a turn for the worse and had to be intubated and life flighted to Casper, Wyoming. Chris spent a total of 21 days in ICU on life support. The first 5 days he was in critical condition, yet remained stable. On Day 6, he was upgraded to serious but stable condition. On day 11, the intubation tube was removed and Chris was given a tracheotomy. Chris was transported to the Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital in Johnstown, Colorado on August 2nd, which is a facility that specializes in long term tracheotomy care. Chris currently has the tracheotomy in place and is on a ventilator, but is slowly improving. He is working hard with physical therapists to regain his strength. The hospital is currently working on weaning him off the ventilator along with strengthening his muscles, but this will be a long process. Once he is stronger, he will go to the rehabilitation side of the hospital to continue the healing process. Once recovered, he hopes to return to his life and job in Gillette.
This GoFundMe campaign has been created to help offset the ever-building medical costs associated with this unforeseen circumstance. At this time, it is unknown how long it will be until Chris is strong enough to work again. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated! I know the support of his friends and family will help keep his spirits high and provide additional motivation during his road to recovery.
