Woonwaarts heeft aangegeven het pand te willen verkopen om de bouw van meer sociale huurwoningen te financieren, en ze willen het pand aan ons verkopen. <div>Voor de aankoop hebben we ruim 1,7 miljoen euro nodig. We hopen 60 procent daarvan bij een bank te lenen. De overige 40 procent moeten we zelf bij elkaar brengen: daarom vragen we jullie hulp. <li>Woonwaarts wil het pand graag aan ONS verkopen omdat ze ook de maatschappelijke meerwaarde van het pand zien voor de stad.

<div><strong>Waarom we eigenaar worden van het pand De Grote Broek?</strong>

<div><em>Langetermijnzekerheid</em>: Eigenaar zijn van het gebouw betekent dat we niet hoeven te huren van Woonwaarts in een woningcrisis. We kunnen ons concentreren op wat we doen zonder ons zorgen te maken over uitzetting of onverwachte huurverhogingen.

<div><em>Autonomie en zelfmanagement:</em> Meer doe-het-zelfplezier in het verschiet! We kunnen beslissen wanneer we dingen repareren, wie het werk doet en hoe we de plek nog beter kunnen maken voor iedereen, zonder dat iemand anders ons vertelt wat we moeten doen. Deze vrijheid stelt ons in staat om de Grote Broek te runnen op een manier die de waarden en behoeften van onze gemeenschap weerspiegelt.

<div><em>Ondersteuning voor collectieve inspanningen:</em> De Broek is een belangrijke ruimte voor allerlei collectieven en initiatieven, waaronder de Onderbroek, de Klinker, The Knust van Extrapool, Stichting Straatmensen, Stichting Gast, Joris Ivens en meer. Door de Grote Broek te kopen, helpen we deze groepen om duurzamer en onafhankelijker te werken. En als de hypotheek eenmaal is afbetaald, kunnen we ons meer richten op het ondersteunen van hen en andere coole projecten voor onze gemeenschap.

<div><em>Verzet tegen gentrificatie: </em>Zoals we zien met Jan10, staat de kraakscene in Nijmegen voor steeds meer uitdagingen bij het creëren van alternatieve woon- en autonome sociale ruimtes. Met het eigendom van de Grote Broek kunnen we de ondersteunende rol die de Grote Broek heeft voor de lokale beweging stabiliseren en doorgaan met het bouwen van een veiligere ruimte die antiautoritaire praktijken en gemeenschapssolidariteit promoot. We willen de Grote Broek de hartslag van de activistische en radicaal-linkse scene van Nijmegen laten blijven!

<div><em>Gemeenschapsopbouw: </em>De Grote Broek zal doorgaan met activiteiten, het organiseren van workshops, feesten en al het goede dat mensen samenbrengt. We willen dat het een plek is waar leren en delen zonder winstoogmerk plaatsvindt.

<div><em>Doorlopende verzet en activisme: </em>eigenaarschap van de Grote Broek geeft ons de kracht om onze gemeenschap en de initiatieven die Nijmegen innemen en omringen, echt te versterken. We willen een gastvrije ruimte blijven waar we gemarginaliseerde stemmen kunnen verheffen en grassroots-bewegingen kunnen ondersteunen die aandringen op echte verandering. Met de Grote Broek als ons thuis in eigen handen, krijgen we de stabiliteit om te organiseren, samen te werken en de omgeving te bouwen die veerkracht, creativiteit en solidariteit aanmoedigt. Samen werken we aan een wereld waarin iedereen kan gedijen, vrij van autoriteit en uitbuiting!

<div><strong>Wat betekent het om eigenaar te zijn van het gebouw?</strong>

<div>Veel van wat een eigenaar normaal doet, doen wij al als vereniging: Begrotingen en jaarverslagen maken, huren innen, klein onderhoud doen, gezamenlijke beslissingen maken. Als eigenaar van het gebouw komt daar ook de taak bij om het pand te onderhouden en zorg te dragen voor de (brand)veiligheid.

<div>Eigenaarschap van het gebouw geeft ons meer vrijheid om aanzienlijke reparaties te beheren, waardoor we beslissingen kunnen nemen over timing en kunnen kiezen wie het werk uitvoert zonder externe controle. We kunnen veranderingen aan de ruimte voorstellen om deze voor iedereen te verbeteren, en we kunnen collectief beslissingen nemen zonder toestemming van iemand die verantwoordelijk is. Zodra de hypotheek volledig is afbetaald, kan dit ons de financiële flexibiliteit bieden om collectieven te ondersteunen die ondersteuning nodig hebben en opwindende projecten ondernemen.

<div><strong>What does it mean to own the building?</strong>

<div>Much of what an owner normally does, we already do as an association: creating budgets and annual reports, collecting rent, performing minor maintenance, and making joint decisions. As the owner of the building, we also take on the responsibility of maintaining the property and ensuring (fire) safety.
</div>

<div>Ownership of the building gives us more freedom to manage significant repairs, allowing us to make decisions about timing and choose who performs the work without external oversight. We can propose changes to the space to improve it for everyone, and we can make collective decisions without needing permission from anyone in charge. Once the mortgage is fully repaid, this can provide us with the financial flexibility to support collectives in need and undertake exciting projects.
