Tyler is paying for a $10,000 insurance deductible for two ambulance rides, two emergency room visits, 3 days in the cardiac unit, and many doctor appointments with a cardiologist. On top of that, Tyler and his wife are also dealing with more than two weeks of lost wages because, although he and his wife both have full time employment, neither place of employment pays for any employee sick days.  Tyler's wife, Yi, accompanied him in the ambulance and stayed by his side in the hospital 24 hours a day. She also stayed home to care for him when he was released from the hospital.

August 5, 2018, was the beginning of a new reality for Tyler.  A hard-working, devoted husband and family man, up to this point, he had enjoyed good health.  That day, Tyler and his wife were doing laundry together when his wife noticed he didn't look well. When she asked him about it, he admitted to being shaky and dizzy, but said he was fine.  She convinced him to go to an urgent care clinic anyway.  At the clinic, they found Tyler's heart was beating 220 beats per minute, and called an ambulance.  At the emergency room, the doctors called code blue, sedated him, and shocked his heart four times to enable his heart to finally resume normal rhythm.  He was moved to the cardiac unit where he underwent many tests and spent the next three days.  His doctor diagnosed a small and previously undetected congenital heart defect in his lower left ventricle which caused his VT.  He will need heart surgery to repair it.

In spite of now being on beta blocker medication and wearing a heart monitor 24 hours a day, the VT returned last week, necessitating another ambulance ride and emergency room visit.  Now Tyler is back to working full time at his stressful position so he can pay the rent and keep his health insurance. He is trying to keep his job and pay this debt, but it is very difficult-he experiences chest pain almost daily.  On the other hand his doctor says he needs to avoid stress lest it cause more damage to his heart. Team We <3 Tyler aims to help Tyler and Yi as much as possible, and appreciates you for taking the time to read this.  Any amount will help Tyler and his wife to afford these expensive medical treatments and surgery, and will take pressure off of this difficult situation.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
