UPDATE!
As many of you know, our attempt to purchase a home in Albany, GA in June was thwarted by unforeseen circumstances. After this devastating blow, somehow I was placed in a position to immediately travel overseas to visit France and speak at the UN in Geneva, followed by a tour through the Puget Sound for The Art of Social Change, followed by facilitating at the Social Artistry Odyssey in Ashland, Oregon. The Odyssey, for me, was cut short by the untimely death of my eldest daughter's father and the love of my life. All the while, I have continued to explore the question: "Where Is Home?".
This exploration led me to identify the best possible place to go home to. An elder in my family has purchased land in trust for the development of generational wealth in our family and I have been called on to help make this dream a reality. We will be moving to a 3 bedroom home in Alabama in just one week. Our lender has remained closely connected to the process and is moving forward with us toward this fantastic opportunity. As we move into this project, one of the top goals is to pay this property off in as short a time as possible. I'm sharing this gofundme page in hopes that you can contribute something that will help us begin the work of building a family home and farm to which future generations of our family can always come home. This opportunity is bigger and better than the last and amazingly, comes at a fraction of the price. Your contribution will go toward relocation expenses, the principal of the loan and any immediate repairs that are needed.

In February 2016, we began our journey as a family to travel the United States and learn to live on intuition, talent, determination and faith. My children joined me in our life-sized adventure to identify our values and find a home where we can grow, prosper and serve our community.
The children have been studying in the school of life, gaining experience in travel, budgeting, home economics, visual art, poetry, culinary arts, written and verbal communication, scheduling, childcare, social justice, gardening, entrepreneurship, networking and so much more.
Fourteen months and forty two cities later, we have found that Albany, Georgia is home. The history, beauty and community that exists in Albany, Georgia is full of opportunity. The arable land and dig-able creatives, historians & voices of change let us know that here, we can plant seeds, cultivate understanding and bring our gifts to fruition in service to the greater whole.
On our travels, the opportunity arose to purchase our first home. Financed by a wonderful woman who is a patron and supporter of my poetry and community work, our home will be the first step toward creating a legacy for future generations of our family and community. We found a home in East Albany that is perfect for our family, we even have classroom space and a fenced yard to grow our own food! We worked and saved, completed a first time home-buyer education class and studied like never before.
We recently found out that because we are not using a standard mortgage, (instead, using a private mortgage to build credit while gaining equity and training for real estate investment) we do not qualify for the $5,000 Down Payment Assistance that we were awarded. This campaign is to help us raise the money for closing costs; the final piece of this goal to secure the mortgage and finally move in.
We are so excited to be finished living out of our suitcases!
