Fatima has made it back to what was once her home, but the reality she returned to is heartbreaking. The destruction is overwhelming, and while aid is trickling in, it remains slow and unpredictable. The needs in Gaza are immense, and daily survival is a challenge.
 
Emotionally, this has taken a serious toll. The uncertainty of what comes next weighs heavily on everyone, and the stress of rebuilding from almost nothing is immense.

Back in July 2024, from the safety of my home and behind the computer I met young woman Fatima through a mutual friend online.

Fatima loved her job as a teacher in Gaza.
 
Her story in her words:

Hello, I am Fatima Mutair and I am 23 years old from Gaza City in Palestine. I am getting an “excellent” grade at the Islamic University and started teaching primary school students in September.

Then the war broke out on October 7 and I had to stop working. What I aspire to achieve in my educational career by completing my master's and doctorate, this will not be achieved in my city due to the destruction of the university. So I still strive to achieve my dream. The Israeli occupation destroyed all my goals and dreams, and destroyed the home of my family, numbering 9 members. They even destroyed my own car.
