We Are Not Alone - A Lone Marathon for ALONE

Donation protected
Hey Guys,

Next Saturday, the 4th of July I will run a lone marathon around the Loop Head peninsula. The day the lockdown was announced I decided to dust off my running shoes and go for a run, only to all too quickly realise that my begrudged body could barely make it past the 1 kilometre mark. I then decided that I would take the 10 hours a week I was spending commuting and use it to train for a marathon. Here we are, 16 weeks on from that fateful March day and just this weekend, I ran 36 kilometres.

I want to use this opportunity to do two things; raise some much needed funds for ALONE, a phenomenal Irish charity who support our elderly in their homes and whose services are more important than ever in this lonely time. I also want to raise awareness of some of the fantastic, artisan Irish businesses out there and encourage people to spend money locally where possible. Buying local has a huge impact on our neighbourhood economy which too, is more important than ever in these times of financial uncertainty.

To do this, I reached out to a number of my favourite Irish businesses, asking if they wanted to get involved by donating products and the response has been truly incredible. As an incentive to donate to ALONE, I will give away 5 hampers worth over €150 each. The hampers will be made up of the products pictured above. To be in with a chance of winning one of these hampers, all you have to do is click link to the GoFundMe in my bio, make a donation and make your name visible. After the marathon, I will use an app to pick the names of the 5 winners from those who have donated and send your chosen hamper to you, wherever you are!

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the following businesses for getting involved in supporting ALONE, a very worthy cause:
