We are Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK, the largest search and rescue organisation in the whole of the UK. We are looking to purchase an operational day van or van.

We are looking for help with either a day van or a van big enough that can be fitted out with what we essentially need.

We need a bench for the team to be able to at least sit on or even rest on while monitoring the live traps, electric sockets so we can charge equipment when needed. The bed would/could be taken out so we could put a secure dog crate in the rear and fix our many traps that we use on top of it.

Storage so we can store all our equipment ranging from body bags (used for collection of deceased pets from river/rail/roads)

Transfer crates

Trail cameras and live cameras

Spare battery packs

Torches

Wooden stakes that we use outdoors for placing cameras

The tins/tubs of soup/food we use to make trail mix on site.

Portable bbq again for assisting as a lure to guide missing dogs back towards cameras/traps.

Toilet/port a potty.

A sink so we can at least clean our hands etc after making food lures or retrieving deceased animals. Yes we also use disposable gloves but we need to make sure we don’t transfer anything on ourselves home.

These are just some of the items we need to store but use when out searching and trapping.

Some people asks why we would need a van:

We are all volunteers who are members of Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK, and assist a number of teams across Wiltshire but some of us also go further when we can such as Oxfordshire/Somerset/Berkshire and Hampshire, to help with any missing animal.

We use our own vehicles at the moment which often get ruined especially the interiors carrying all the kit around. A lot of the team have smaller cars so can’t get the kit in. A van will enable us all to do this instead of it being left to 1 or 2 people to transport everything.

It doesn’t need to be a 4x4 but would be an advantage but does need to be big enough for the above.

Over the last 7-8 years our team have spent many a night sat in their cars all night watching live cameras after building traps to safely capture peoples missing pets. The team have gone out day and night to make pets and strays safe or to sadly retrieve deceased ones so owners have closure.

We need a safe place to do this but to also transport scared stray dogs to kennels instead of placing them on the back seat of a car especially when temperaments are unknown.
