We Almost Made It

In 2014 my family and I relocated from North Carolina to Pennsylvania to support my husband's lifelong dream of becoming an Optometrist. At the time our cars were 10 and 13 years old and in excellent running condition. Our hope was that we would continue driving our cars until Gabriel finished his 4-year program. We almost made it.

In the early morning hours of Friday, May 26, 2017 lightening struck a tree, which snapped the power lines as the limb fell (onto my car) and caused a fire. The damage to my, now 16-year old, car resulted in a total loss by the insurance company. With the extremely hectic nature of our family's schedule, we absolutely need to have two working vehicles.

Thankfully our insurance covers the cost of a rental, but once our claim is settled we will only have a few days with which to buy a new-to-us car before we have to turn the rental car in. We are a one income household and making a car payment is nowhere in our budget. We are raising money to assist us with a down payment substantial enough to either eliminate a monthly car note completely or reduce the monthly payment to better fit our already tight budget.
