Van Repairs for Disabled Nomads Giving ADA Reviews
Don and I are a mobility and health challenged, low-income couple traveling in our RV (our only home). Our goal is to provide information on, and reviews of, Handicap Accessible, low-cost (mostly free) attractions in the places that we're able to visit and provide same of the RV parks where we stay. We feel that this information benefits the special needs community.
Our van is giving us trouble. At the end of October, it was the right rear axle and wheel bearings. Cloverdale Auto Repair did a crackerjack job. That ended up costing close to $950.00. A generous benefactor took care of that for us. One week later, in the beginning of November, the water pump starting crapping out. We couldn't believe it.
That's when I started this GoFundMe.
The initial quote for repairing the water pump was $650. We were able to raise $375 through GoFundMe. Along with that and a loan that a friend gave us, it was just enough to get it fixed. The repair ended up costing $483.69. Larry's Auto Repair in Stockton did a stellar job.
It's the middle of November (as of this writing). We still have to pay back the loan for the last repair and now we're hearing a brief, sudden and intermittent "clunkity clunk" coming from the wheel on the front passenger side. We have no idea what it could possibly be as we can't reproduce it. It will have to be inspected which we're sure is going to end up needing repair.
I was going to close this campaign after the water pump was fixed. Now that we have indication of additional problems, we felt it was better to leave it open so that we can get all the help we can. You will be lifting a dark, heavy cloud off the shoulders of a couple of old folks trying to help folks like themselves in the best way they can.
To those who already helped and those kind enough to help us in future, we have no words sufficient to express our gratitude.
