Sarah was a warm, generous and dedicated person who was committed to making the world a better place.
On Sunday March 10, 2019, she was on her way to Nairobi to talk about the Clean Seas project in connection with the UN Environment Assembly. Her Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed soon after take-off from Addis Ababa with no survivors.
Sarah touched the lives of hundreds of people and inspired the people around her to make a difference.
Many of Sarah’s friends and contacts have expressed a desire to make a donation to a charitable organisation in her name.
Sarah cared deeply about a number of causes, and environmental stewardship was one of the areas that she was most passionate about.
Who is running this fund?
My name is David Auffret, I am Sarah's older brother. I have setup this fund with the help of the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO), the NGO that Sarah worked for.
How the funds will be used?
Donations will be collected here with the aim of creating a memorial fund in Sarah's name that will be used to advance environmental stewardship. The aim of the fund will be to honor Sarah’s legacy and her commitment to environmental protection.
What will happen to the donations?
The collection of donations is coordinated by AECO. The donations will be transferred to the fund once it has been created. If the fund is not created, the donations will be transferred to a charity chosen by Sarah’s closest family.
