Being a photographer, I see things acutely. With passion. With feeling.
This is true however, only if I'm able to see.
Still feeling, still brimming with passion, but not having the ability to see, is nothing short of frustration beyond compare.
Having suffered tremendously from the life altering effects of keratoconus/ectasia I have been there. I know the challenge and the despair only too well.
I have lived through the terrifying fear of blindness and the pain of not being able to see well enough to recognize my loved ones or to work in the fields I love.
Having been blessed to regain partial visual freedom and feeling alive again, I have a burning desire to help others and to do something that will positively affect those who are suffering from the same disease.
As a photographer, my vision is to help find a cure for those who cannot see, by inspiring those who can help through beautiful imagery of the world around us.
This is my purpose. My part of the puzzle.
In order to raise awareness of the eye diseases keratoconus and corneal ectasia, I plan on cycling around the coastline of Ireland (+- 2800 Kilometers), this coming summer. At the end of the trip, I am planning on having the last surgery that I still need to get my vision to a point that I can see distance and read normally with glasses. This will also help allay the debilitating migraines I am having fairly constantly from the tremendous eye strain I always have.
I plan on cycling approximately 80 kilometers per day, 5 days per week and camping 5 nights a week in a specially built trailer that I can pull with my bicycle.
One of the benefits offered to sponsors of big-ticket items or amounts, is to have their logo prominently displayed on the exterior of the trailer, thus giving them thousands of kilometers of exposure as well.
I will be documenting the entire trip, through an almost daily blog, photography and some video.
I plan on visiting as many off-the-beaten-path locations along the coast of Ireland as I can, after all, the more people I meet, the greater the awareness of the need for Keratoconus and Ectasia research there will be.

Once I get back, the heavy work starts.
It will take a few months of very long hours to collate and edit all of the footage, create Fine-Art Prints, design calendars, coffee-table books, postcards and presentations, and then to market and sell them so a large part of the proceeds can go to research and helping sufferers of this disease.
This is where You and Your Sponsorships come in.
In order to see, one needs eyes. And in order to fulfill a vision, we need collaboration and cooperation.
The sponsorship is divided into 2 separate parts.
The journey itself ($29260) and then the printing of all the materials to be sold ($24500).

Every cent sponsored over and above the costs of the journey and the printing will be donated to further research into K&CE (keratoconus and corneal ectasia).
Plus, a minimum of 50% of the net profits from any and all sales will also be donated to causes that research K&CE and to causes that help people suffering from these debilitating diseases.
As an added bonus to any person, organization or company along my expected cycling route that sponsors at least $1000, I will spend up to 2 hours shooting specifically for you, and give you a non-exclusive license for those images from that specific shoot to be used in advertising campaigns for a year.
And the more you sponsor, the more time I will schedule to shoot for you.
