On March 30th 2025, Sheila Gaines had a seizure, she was taken to MyMichigan Hospital. A CT scan discovered multiple tumors growing in her brain and she was then taken to Munson Medical in Traverse City, MI where she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Plans were made to remove one of the tumors in early April and the surgery went well, Sheila was able to come home the following week. On April 27th 2025, Sheila had another seizure and was sent back to MyMichigan where she had more seizures over night. So then it was determined that they take her by helicopter to Corewell Health Hospital in Grand Rapids MI, where they have the best equipment possible for her care. Sheila is a phenomenal parent, grandparent, sister and worker. Sheila worked for Kinross Township in many ways over the last 30 years including EMS and becoming the Township Clerk before retiring in 2022 to be at home with her children and grandchildren and of course enjoy retirement life.
