From Foster Kid to Family Kid

Our Ms. Lyn (Toddler B teacher)and her family are hard at work to adopt a 14 year old teenage girl, L**** , via the foster care system.  As you may well know many people want to adopt infants or young children, but as foster kids approach their teenage years, adoption is very rare. Most kids in that situation age out of the system, never having had a family to love and nurture them.  L**** has been in the foster care system for years, and Lyn and her family want to be her forever home. 

Currently, Lyn and her husband are in the process of saving money for the costs of the adoption, which will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000.  The home study alone will cost $1500 and then there will be additional expenses such as school supplies and clothing that will be needed for their new daughter-to-be. 

We all know the difference that love can make in someone's life, and we see Ms. Lyn and all our teachers making a difference in our childrens' lives at preschool.

We are  hopeful we can help Ms. Lyn by contributing towards the cost of the home study as a kind of "baby shower" to support her effort in changing a foster kid's life for the better! 

In L****'s adoption interview, she was asked what she hoped for in a family. She replied that she hoped to find a family that could lift her up, and not put her down, and that it would be nice if they could ask her if she had had a good day.  

We are excited and hopeful for L**** to experience the joy, hope and love that Ms. Lyn and her family have to offer her with a forever home.
