WCA Costume Degree Show Fundraiser

Hi all! We represent this year’s graduating students from the Costume Design and Costume Interpretation courses at Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts London. The two costume pathways cover a range of disciplines and skills relevant to the costume industry, and WCA is proud to produce successful costumiers from its driven students. Third year students in the 2018-19 academic year are excited to embark on a number of exciting projects which will build professional and diverse portfolios to lead into blossoming careers.

At the end of the academic year, the third year students will curate and exhibit their work in the annual Degree Show, a weeklong event that aims to showcase student talent to industry professionals as well as friends and family. The exhibition will display finished work from the students’ final year, including costumes, supporting research, designs, etc., to celebrate students’ completion of the course and to publicize the university’s acclaimed costume department.

While the university provides some funding toward the costs of the Degree Show, students are responsible for raising any additional funds needed. In our case, we are raising money to help cover the costs of exhibit displays (mannequins, drapes, backdrops, etc.) catering for our exclusive industry night, and our catalogues. Our goal is to raise a minimum of £3,000 to make our degree show as professional and inviting as possible. We greatly appreciate any donations, every little bit helps! Thank you for taking the time to read our story, with your help we hope to curate a successful exhibition to showcase the immense talent of our year group. Feel free to contact our fundraising representatives for any further questions about the Degree Show or sponsorships.
