DIANNE’S FIGHT

We all know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer in some form or another. Whether it’s a close family member or friend, an acquaintance, or even yourself, you know that the battle isn’t just horrifically physical. It is an emotional, exhausting and also financially taxing time.

Di Galea, our beautiful, strong and devoted wife and mother, was diagnosed two years ago with bowel cancer which has progressed to her liver and lungs. Di bravely fought through 15 long months of chemotherapy in an effort to save her life and give her time with her precious family.

Unfortunately the chemo has not been effective and her cancer has progressed to the point where this treatment is no longer viable.

Di has now been offered a different treatment. Unfortunately this is not covered by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and comes at a cost of $60,000 for 12 months of treatment. This treatment is only available to 3% of people suffering this disease. Di happens to be one of those. This is an extremely worthwhile and necessary treatment however, understandably it is an expense that is putting a strain on her family.

Di’s husband Ed is 71yrs old. He is currently working 6-7 days a week to ease the financial burden that comes with this terrible disease. 49 years of marriage and he is still as devoted to her now as the day they said ‘I do’.

Both Di and Ed have served in the Diamond Valley community for over 40yrs with Lions Club, Blue Light discos, sporting clubs, and the Church, and have been kind, generous friends to many.

We would appreciate any help you could give us, to help give Di the opportunity to spend quality time with Ed, her 6 boys and her 14 grandchildren.
