Ella Styles, daughter of Stacey and Mark Doolan, has been diagnosed with a rhabdomyosarcoma at only three years old.
She has one main tumor on her 5th & 6th rib and also has metastases of the lungs, two on the right lung and one on the left. She is undergoing weekly chemotherapy for the next 43 weeks and will be having radiation in between these sessions. She has had numerous scans performed including bone scans, and CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds and the list goes on. In addition, she has had bone marrow taken from each hip and a central line has been inserted. A biopsy was taken from the main tumor and will most be performed again after the tumor has been shrunk. She will need to have some of the rib removed to make sure they remove all of the tumor.
This kind of trauma always has major impact to all of our lives. At the moment, Stacey and Mark need to commute to Brisbane to see Ella. The small costs quickly begin to add up. Parking costs $22 per day and if you leave the car park you have to pay again when you return. The cost of petrol and food adds up very quickly. Mark is driving back and forth to see Stacey and Ella whilst still trying to continue to work as much as possible, to keep them all afloat. This will be their life for the next 43 weeks during Ella's chemo, after which Ella's recovery period will begin.
Ella and her family need your help. One thing you can do is help me to set up a fund; a pool of money for Ella and her family, so they can concentrate on the important things in Ella's life.... being a family at this difficult time, and sharing their love together.
