WB-Boggs Collaborative Energy Grant
Having already solar powered the WBHS science department, the WB EARTH Club , is providing grant support for the 3rd and 5th graders of James and Grace Lee Boggs School in Detroit toward the development of their own sustainable energy project! So many have supported us, we wish to pay it forward with a grant to others.
Our WB-Boggs Collaborative Energy Grant will help the Boggs kids design their own project which prevents greenhouse gas emissions and best fits the needs of their school and community. $2000 could provide 1 kilowatt or more of solar panels for their classroom, help retrofit LED lighting, and/or help insulate the school, saving energy and increasing student and staff comfort.
Boggs students need our help to stop climate change
Boggs School just moved into a different school building which they hope to call their "forever home" and we want to help them power it more sustainably like we've done for our school. Lakers Online Physical Science Students instructed Boggs 3rd and 5th graders (the Pheasants and Blue Herons) in how to make their homes more energy efficient. With additional guidance and support from Ecoworks Detroit and the Youth Energy Squad, the Boggs kids are working on performing and documenting energy efficiency measures to earn the grant. Using this grant, the Boggs kids will get to design their own sustainable energy project to best suit their school's needs!
All donations made here will go toward our energy efficiency and solar project at Boggs School in Detroit. Your donations are 100% tax deductible as they will be recorded as a gift to West Bloomfield High School.
