Wayne Capps Stroke Recovery Fund

Family, Friends and Fans of Wayne Capps,

On Monday April 20, 2020, Wayne’s wife Kay came home from work to find her husband lying on the floor in his office barely responsive.  He was rushed to Lexington Medical Center where it was determined that he had a stroke.  His first scan showed that there was a bleed in the left center of his brain.  A second scan the following morning showed an increase of internal bleeding and confirmed that surgery to relieve pressure was not possible.  Wayne was removed from ICU after four days and then Friday April 25th was transferred to an acute rehabilitation facility in Columbia, SC.  He receives physical, occupational and speech therapy daily.

Throughout this entire process, because of COVID-19, Wayne’s wife has not been able to be with him, which has been extremely difficult for both of them.  They have been able to FaceTime some, but Wayne has difficulty communicating.  He mostly can only nod and say one or two words at a time.

Most of you who know Wayne know that he is an incredibly healthy man.  He used to walk up to 4 miles a day and was a healthy eater.  Some of you may not know that Wayne made a living as a musician.  He is in incredibly talented performer who worked in many restaurants in the Columbia/Lexington/Augusta area until COVID-19 shut everything down.  The shut down led to Wayne not having any work which created a tremendous amount of pressure and stress with regards to how monthly bills were going to get paid.  Losing his livelihood as a musician has been devastating; this incident happening on top of the COVID-19 crisis has been absolutely heartbreaking for Wayne’s family.

Wayne’s wife Kay would like to thank everyone for their prayers, texts, calls, love and support.  However, the family has a VERY long road to recovery ahead of them.  Wayne is strong and we have no reason to believe that he won’t recover.  Our biggest prayer is that he recovers in such a way that he can be the musician that he once was and can go back to the job that he loves.  The family is in need of financial help to make this dream a reality.  No donation is too small.  Thank you in advance for your support either financially or through your prayers.  We have faith that God will help us all through this difficult time.
