Please donate now to make the Waving Wheat Trilogy come to life in both 2D film and glorious Virtual reality 360.

A little project background...

My name is Lance McDaniel.  I am an independent filmmaker that was born and raised in Alva, Oklahoma. For the past several years, I have toured rural Oklahoma , leading free film classes to local high schools. For this project, I am returning to Alva to create a series of short films using Alva community members in the cast and crew. The goal is to expose the community to the art of film and allow them to learn the filmmaking process from the inside out by collaborating on these films.

The three films include a G rated comedy, a PG musical drama, and a tragedy told through dance.

So many of the successes and joys in my own life resulted from my participation in the arts in Alva. I sang in the Alva Boys Choir, danced with the Smart School of Dance, marched in the junior high band, took piano and painting lessons, and sat front row for every movie at the Rialto Theater. My hope is that this film project will engage and inspire the next generation of confident, creative, community minded people.

With our stretch goal of an additional $10,000, we will also create a Virtual Reality/ 360 film in partnership with WonderTek and the Google Jump Start Program. VR will allow these great rural stories to come to life in the most cutting edge film format available.

Any amount helps us get to our goal. Thank you so much for your consideration.

This project is generously funded by Mid-America Arts Alliance, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Windgate Charitable Foundation, Inc., and the state arts agencies of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Producing these films in Alva simply would not be possible without the guidance and support of Kay Decker with Graceful Arts in Alva, Thamizin Harrison with Alva Communty Theater ACT1, Todd Holder of Holder Drug and Alva State Bank, Alex Mantz with the City of Alva and the Alva Chamber of Commerce, and Lynn Martin with The Alva Review Courier and Lynn Martin Photography.
