The Wauwatosa West We the People class of 2019 won the Wisconsin State We the People Competition on Saturday January 5th, 2019 in Madison, Wisconsin at the American Family Insurance Headquarters. The class has the honor of representing the State of Wisconsin at the National We the People Finals in Washington DC in April. The cost to ensure the whole team can make the trip out together is $75,000 which we have till April 9th to raise. Any assistance with helping us raise these funds is greatly appreciated. If you are willing to make a donation, please include your name, amount, and student you are donating on behalf so we can ensure we get you a proper thank you letter and tax donation receipt.
The We the People competition is based upon a nation-wide Government/Civics program that asks the students to take part in a mock Congressional Hearing where they serve as experts testifying before Congress. The students must take stances on many topics varying from plans at the Constitutional Convention, to Executive Powers of the President, to privacy rights and the NSA and what to do with current immigration policies. The students must be prepared with many examples at their fingertips to support their arguments.
