Waugh Families Homes Lost In Fire

The fires have been a tradgedy in Sonoma and Napa Counties and many of us are grateful to be safe at this time.   We have recently learned that  staff members and families near and dear to us in our own Waugh School District Community have lost their homes and all of their possessions. My name is Shannon Howard-Bisordi and I am a Corona Creek parent of two children leading this effort with a few other Waugh Parents hoping raise funds to support our Waugh Families during their time of loss, and displacement from their homes.

We have been in contact with the Waugh School District in Petaluma and have been informed that two members of the staff at Corona Creek and Meadow Schools have lost their homes and all of their belongings in the fire.  At this time they are keeping their names confidential. The families would be grateful for any help and support that we can give as a community. It could take weeks or months to go through the insurance process. The hope is to give immediate relief to the families in need. Many of the families in our district commute from Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa daily to attend school.  The District Office is fielding calls and still in the process of learning about additional families who have also been affected or displaced. This truely hits close to home as a parent and community member.

We  will be working with the Waugh School District Office to make sure all funds raised get distrubuted as soon as possible based on need. I will personlly be withdrawling the funds and dispersing to the identified  familes in our district. 

We have a strong community and support system at both Meadow and Corona Creek Schools and we hope that you can help in anyway that your family can support. We will keep this page updated as more information becomes available to us. The District Office would prefer that we field any calls or emails about donations due to the high volume of calls they are receiving.

My fellow Waugh Girl Scout Troop Leaders and our Troops will be joining together and setting up a fundraiser next week  lead by Julie Mann where gift cards can be purchased and distibuted to  Waugh families in need as well.
