Hi, my name is Lauren and I am fundraising for my beautiful life long friend, Julie Roach. Friends and Family, As some of you know, our dear friend Julie has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Julie is 41 years old and is married to caring, funny, hard working Mike. Julie and Mike have two beautiful young daughters: Piper (4) and Everly (1). Julie is a wonderful, loving “mama” and the most caring, thoughtful, and giving daughter, sister, cousin, niece, aunt, and FRIEND. In April of 2022, Julie found a lump in her breast. She immediately sought medical attention and the ultrasound did not indicate concern, but most likely normal changes due to breast feeding. After a follow-up ultrasound and the same diagnosis, she was told to return in 6 months. After that appointment, Julie found another lump in her arm pit. She quickly returned to the doctor and went in for a biopsy. In September of 2022, Julie was diagnosed with Stage 2B Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer). With her beautiful daughters on the forefront of her heart and mind, Julie bravely started her breast cancer treatment protocol without hesitation. In the last 10 months, Julie has endured multiple biopsies and surgeries and is currently on her second course of aggressive Chemotherapy. Through all of this, including multiple setbacks, changes in her pathology, and a change in her treatment team, Julie has been steadfast in her journey to LIVE. Julie and Mike are very independent and humble and while they have graciously accepted and appreciated help from those closest to them they have not wanted to ask for more. Julie’s journey is not over and there are more treatments ahead of her. Due to the necessary change in her treatment team, most of her appointments are over 2 hours round trip from her home with having multiple appointments each week. Julie is currently receiving chemotherapy once every two weeks and Immunotherapy on the opposite weeks. This schedule is going to intensify in late June with Julie to start 5 weeks of daily radiation. Julie was unfortunately laid off just prior to her diagnosis and has been unable to work this past year due to her treatments. We are asking for the help of friends, family, loved ones, and our community to take some of the financial burden off Julie and Mike so Julie can focus on her health and recovery without additional worry and strain.
