Help Colin volunteer in Honduras

I am a civil engineer, and as one I want to improve the
quality of life for all kinds of people. I think that everyone deserves the
best life that they can have, and I want to help them to achieve that goal by helping
people have access to clean water. In the summer of 2012 I had the opportunity to
do just that!
I went to Honduras for one month to work with Water For People as a part of a National Science Foundation internship program. Over the course of those 4 weeks, the team I was working with did engineering studies and water system design work. The part of the team I worked with designed four systems that would serve about 100 homes and in the design we assumed 6 persons a house. The greatest part about being on this part of the team, was knowing that our designs would be implemented. Our engineering improved the quality of life for 600 people!
While working on this project I realized that I was a member of something bigger. Since then, I have been praying that I could return to continue to change the world in Honduras. God has answered my prayers. At the end of August I am returning to Honduras for 6 months, to help Water For People in their mission of bringing safe water to everyone everywhere forever.
During my stay I will be working on three main projects:
- Designing water systems for several small towns
- Creating a feasibility study for currently designed projects
- Calculating the cost to achieve full coverage in two of the four counties
It makes me happy how much I helped accomplished last summer, but there is so much more to do. This is the work I want to do all my life. For this trip to become a reality I praying that you chose to partner with me in this endeavor. There are two ways you can do this:
The first way is through prayer. Honduras is a dangerous country and so I need prayer for safety. Also, Water For People is not helping me financially, so your prayers for God to provide for me would be greatly appreciated!
The second way is to help me financially. I need $7,500 for this project. This includes everything from airfare, to rent, to daily needs. I am asking you to participate financially with me so that I can go do the work that God has called me to in Honduras. Your support will help me move to Honduras for 6 months as I volunteer with Water For People as a civil engineer intern. A direct result of my work and your support will be improved access to safe drinking water for people in rural Honduras.
