Water Heater Bust!

Donation protected
Our big little house is very full, both with people and with love. In addition to Shirley and I and our four kids, we also house Shirley's disabled father along with Shirley's sister Karen, brother-in-law Brandon, and their two kids. That's eleven people in about 1200 square feet with one bathroom. It's tight, but we make it work most of the time.
However, 2017 has been a very eventful and trying year for our household. In late February/early March, our van was totalled due to a blowout destroying the engine wiring and we had to take on debt in order to obtain a suitable replacement. In April, the dishwasher had to be replaced - it had been repaired previously, but it wasn't feasible to do so again. Memorial Day weekend, our washing wachine quit completely and it had to be replaced. Just a few weeks ago, one of the window A/C units stopped cooling, right as the temperatures started climbing. Again, a replacement had to be purchased. Right now, Karen's car is in the shop being repaired after being hit by debris from a riding mower last week and having the window shattered and door damaged enough on the inside to need a complete replacement. Insurance should cover part of that cost.
This leads us to the past few days, when our water heater went out completely and we began the process of getting and estimate and trying to get a new one. During this, we found out that none of the current hook-ups meet code and so the cost is going to be higher than it would be for a normal replacement. If we stay with a traditional water heater, the cost would be somewhat lower than the tankless, but we will still face some of the same issues as a large family on a day-to-day basis and we know it costs more to operate in the long run.
We simply don't have a way to get the money together right now, regardless of which type of water heater we get, and we really need the help. Those that know me know that I don't like to ask anyone for help and I wouldn't ask if it wasn't necessary. We're going to pool our resources as much as we can, but what we have is limited, and we would greatly appreciate anything that you can do to help us out.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and thank you again for any contribution that you are able to make.
