Water for Our Family in Puerto Rico

Donation protected
Greetings Relations,

According to friends and community members who reside on the Island, the people of Boriken (Puerto Rico) continue to suffer from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria  - many still without potable water and electricity, struggling for survival and basic needs, particularly in the interior of the island.

The hurricane dismantled local governments as well so necessary resources are not arriving due to serious infrastructure issues – including compromised postal and delivery services.

Adding insult to grave injury, the feckless federal government of the United States has abandoned them.

This is completely unacceptable. Time to take matters into our own hands – hence this Go Fund Me request.

As a member of REI, I contacted headquarters to receive a reduction in cost to purchase Lifestraws in quantity. They graciously extended a discount.

The water filters are scheduled to arrive on the 22nd of this month.

The intended arrival onto Boriken is the 8th of March, remaining through the 13th. Once on the Island, we will travel by car, distributing the water filters to individuals and communities with whom I am familiar and who have reached out to me.

Therefore, I am requesting $4,000 to cover 70 Lifestraws and 10 Mission Gravity Water Purifiers, two round trip airlines tickets, vehicular rental and meals for 5 days.

Our Taino relations are in serious trouble and not only requiring but requesting assistance.

I humbly ask and express gratitude in advance for your generosity, compassion and support.

Respectfully,

Phillip Scott
