Watching the Moon (play)

Hi, my name is Carly Wilkins. I am producing a play called "Watching the Moon". My company of actors have been the only ones to perform this show in this English translation. We have performed this piece one other time 2 years ago at our college (Hofstra University). We are now delighted to be sharing this work with NYC!

This play shows the depth of a mother’s love and what she is willing to do to “save” her child. Overall, it is a moving and beautifully written/translated piece of art that should be shared with as many people as we can reach. I believe in this play and its message that taking the time to understand and sympathize with a person in need can mean the world to those who are lost and struggling, instead of just writing them off as "crazy". This show is a call for human connection. Maria’s situation is not her fault. She is strongly affected by her inability to cope with the great sadness, and maybe even guilt she feels, of losing her child. When we observe the lack of empathy given to Maria by both loved ones and strangers, we can understand how easy it is and how often we write off or ignore people who are truly in need of help and compassion. I love the way Maria justifies her thoughts because to her the journey she takes is so important, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to everyone else. 

We are asking for donations to help with the cost of producing this show. We have run into some unexpected costs. This is a passion project for all involved. We do this for the love of, not only performing, but telling the story of these characters in particular.
