It is bittersweet as I write this request for funding for our soccer club. We are WASPS FC - established 2017. Members of the Manitoba Major Soccer League.
Jean Baptiste Ajua better known as JB was the founder of this team. Tragically on August 20, 2016 his life was cut short and fell victim to a drowning accident at Birds Hill Park in Manitoba, Canada.
Before his passing it was his dream to bring his recreational Rwandese soccer team into the Manitoba Major Soccer league (MMSL).
It was a long journey to get where we are...and we are very happy to annouce that his dream has come true with the help of friends, family and the community!
Being members of the MMSL comes with a lot of expenses before and during the season. Most of the team members are students, past & present refugees and come from single or low income families. These men have dedicated their skills and will be working hard to make JB's dream a reality and bring WASPS F.C to the top in the league.
We are trying to put together funds to help pay for registration fees to the amount of $4460, team uniforms and training equipment. On top of effort to raise funds for the team we will also be hosting a Fundraising Event in the near future to try and offset expenses for future tournaments.
WASPS FC will make every moment count and with your help we will make every hard-earned dollar you donate count towards our goal of bringing our team to the #1 spot! We want give these players a haven where they do not feel like an outsider but as a community here in Canada. This team is not just about playing soccer we are a family and want to help others.
