Solidarity for Puerto Rico
Donation protected
Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico the morning of September 20 as a Category 4 storm. It is the most powerful storm to directly impact the island in approximately 80 years. While still recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Irma, 100% of the island is now without power, and in addition faces flooding and devastation. Many communities have been completely destroyed and, as a result, many families have lost their homes along with everything they had. Damages are yet to be formally assesed given that communications are down and accesibility is limited. Relief efforts for the island are in place, but because of low funding, they might not be enough. If you find it in your heart to cooperate, a small donation may be enough to supply basic goods for the affected.
My name is Jahdiel Berríos Rodríguez, and I am a Puerto Rican sophomore in Washington University in St. Louis. This has directly affected me and my family—thus the driven interest in this campaign. The funds will be withdrawn and directly donated to "United for Puerto Rico" electronically. Created by the First Lady of Puerto Rico and sponsored by the private sector, their mission is to provide aid and support to the affected with the proceeds. This may be done by supplying them with food, water, fuel, clothing, and other basic necessity items.
