TWO washing machines for 55 orphans

We are currently volunteering at the Sanyu Babies’ Home in Uganda. Sanyu is a home for abandoned babies between 1 day and 4 years of age and has been operating for 82 years (www.sanyubabies.com).

During our time at Sanyu, we have realised that they are in desperate need of new washing machines. Three of their existing four machines are broken, which means that the large majority of clothes are washed by hand.

With 55 babies; 2-3 items of clothing each; and 2-3 change cycles a day, that’s more than 300 items of clothing that need to be washed every day! Needless to say that washing clothes distracts care takers who could otherwise be educating the children, playing with them and showing them parental love.

The cost of a new industrial washing machine is A$3,500. We are aiming to collect the sum through our networks, purchase a machine and install it over the next 4 days (before we leave Uganda). They actually need 3 more but we would love to give them at least one!   If we can get one installed over the next few days before we leave we can share a video of the result before we leave which would be so joyous to all the contributors to the fund.

Thank you so much for your loving support xxx

Love Zhinus and Arash
